While most of you already know it, with the wave in downloading and ipod culture, Music sales in the R&B and Hip hop are going down, Case in point Alicia Keys new album was the lowest top selling album in history. At this rate artist will start charging for freestyles soon and with all the strikes going on, I think a musicians strike might be in the wings. If this happens companies will finally start acquiring and back labels up with underground artist to be used as Scabs and this could be good or bad if artist change once on the grand stage. But that why writers went on strike, getting 10 cent per dvd sale , where as in music some artist get that per CD sale when I tunes and sprint sell songs for a dollar. So if you like a song and don't want to buy the CD, you can buy the track, so 16 track on the ava. album right, artist getting fractions of change per track now... Strikes or definately coming. But I am giving what I think is coming and I'm no Sylvia Brown are nothing but what do y'all think.

Actors and writers just as greedy and they put things on hold, and when artist get a dime a CD sale and people aren't buying Cds but random tracks cause they are just feeling certain songs its definately a ideal that might be growing in the industry.

Sales are overrated anyway in my opinion. That's what got us into this $$ hungry bling era in the first place. Take it back to mid 80's when the greedy execs found out the it could potentially be tons of $$ to be made in this rap game. So let's see, they put the MC in the forefront and dropped the other elements that made hip hop what it really is. So FORGET about the DJ, the b-boys and graffitti artists. Offer these 'rappers' more $$ IF they let them have more control and input into the product. So now the FOCUS of not only the execs is to make more and more $, but also while the MC is getting paid crumbs(compared to what the execs make) they get more greedy and start making bullshit material just to get more money while forgetting about the true artform and what hip hop really is. So record sales are really corrupting the game because now the rapper with most record sales or ringtone sales are PERCEIVED as HOT and the BEST, which we all KNOW is not the fact. In fact they more often than not are hot garbage, leading our YOUTH down the road of ignorance and stupidity in the name of what is 'hot' to the masses. WOW.

I agree with the homey deepru 150%. Record sales have corrupted hip hop because it took it from an art form to a business form, so now you the artist concentrated on the dollar instead of the actual product. This new age of rap music is horrible; there is no love or originality in the product any more. And the content is nothing more than the blueprint to increase the prison population. I have to tell you guys that after I release the diary 2 that will most likely be it for me, you cant sell something that nobody wants to buy. I know that I have the best album of 2008 but will probably sell 40 copies..so Im wasting my time trynna change people through music..so Im going to focus on my degree. I want to be a guidance counselor in the juvenile prison system. Im going to let my other artist do they thing and rep Nyce Ent

Deepru and Dee, I gonna say this and I gotta say it, first off Deepru I agree with you, but Dee one thing I learn from you is fuck what everyone thinks, do you, I consider you like a older brother do your thing get that degree cause I'm gonna get mine, I don't get churchie like alot but I will for a moment, At the point of mans rock bottom or the point where we get to thinking I should give up, if we just have the strength to step past that, then you find your blessing. So I'm say this like I would say to my brother, cause fuck blood and all ,you a brother to me man you and Box,Rico, Even Hill though we bump heads every now and then, I seen you grow and get past alot of things and you are truly blessed, I admit you do need time off man, fighting the world is a big task. ENT straight, Rome's there and I will pop in from time to time til I can root there somewhere, But don't quit, Cause bro man you grow above everything life throwed at you, so I don't doubt you will change music if not the world. Keep fighting, And fall back spend time with your beautiful, smart, and strong wife, and the kids, shit negro, I'm jealous you got the world already LOL, And I'll see you soon, and man you know I'm coming correct this time.... GA ready, to Richmond please. Oh and I don't know how you got in this forum with those shoes,

Im going to let my other artist do they thing and rep Nyce Ent I cosign 100%, the art form has been raped of many aspects a while ago, every year things appear to be getting worse. If rappers do go out on strike; I think many changes can be made, such as: More money per CD sold, more creative control, and real artist "developement" , I have more to speak of but thats an example. Hip-hop went from, beef era-bling era-back to beef era-and now the "chukin and jivin" era. Alot of these artists oughta be ashamed of themselves. Even in NY where alot of people don't even listen to that type of music the radio tries to push it on the listeners. Whatever happened to listening to "Shook One's", followed by "I Gotcha Opin", followed by "Warning". Lol I boycotted the radio in 2002 I was just starting to get keen on what was really going on. My main beef is "CREATIVE CONTROL"!!! Oh yeah good luck on getting that degree I hope you have started working on it by taking online courses since you have an adequate amount of spare time to play with and I need to do the same myself, keep injecting the world with truth because that is something that can't be masked forever.
