It's not only one thing to promote a false lifestyles in rap, it now popular to market the false bravado to sell yourself and the huge and hulked up Gangster, that clearly making up for the fact that your not the big brute you claim to be is glamorized by steroid freaks of the rap game. So I ask this is it that the content of the product is less important, and the shiny box they put shit in and pass off as gold is ? What hip hop has become, is a slap in the face to Public Enemy, Run DMC, Dougie Fresh, Kurtis Blow, Grand Master Flash, Sugarhill Gang, and Afrika Bambaataa and the great, true hip hop founders. To read the lyric's to popular song like "Crank that" are 2nd grade-ish or look at how even a producer like Timberland has to bulk up to sell beat. It's time for artist to take a stand and for people to talk about this and fire the 1st shoot in the start of The Hip Hop Civil War, Education vs. Ignorance, because if this isn't confronted and taken care of our music will be taken away by Whites and Corporate America and be corrupted like rock and roll was back in the day that simple. Am I alone in my thinking???

No I feel the same way, but some of us already know that most of these rappers have beefed up personas, but then again you have artists like Saigon for example who spent his life in and out of jail but he raps like a conscience rapper , and then you have a negative like Rick Ross who talks about how much drugs he sold he a kingpin and whatever, I think 2008 is going to be the year that people wake-up and smell the ignorance that the media shows them, and start paying more attention to the lyrical talent.

You're right but nowadays we cut through the blunt and throw the content away, the pain of the intolerable mindscape of the slums and prison mentallity (big nigga on the yard & what you in for, what ya did ) black music represents , We’ll buy 22s but we’ll never buy a source of deterrence of lifes uplifting value to build a better you and me, I think the goal should be shame in 08, to shame black people in to being better people and music is perfect for this because you get them to listen to the beat and slip the truth in with the content. Because it gonna take a artist that will take on these artist and shame the in the public eye for being the reason our people are failing to be, and maybe money want have a value over promoting the culture. It's going to take a new Public Enemy type movement. The Reaganomic's tired to erase that movement before it could gain steam. The fight the power movement empowered us and scared whites to think that sheer musical messages could make us want to be better that video had all 5 borro's of NY united, Biggies death was the last thing that did that, but that alone showed people that Damn it's possible for us to rise above and fight the powers of ignorance and corruption attacking our society. Dee Nyce has a delivery and swagger that could really change not only a genre but society, it starts with one.

WORD to EVERYBODY's POSTS. I think rappers nowadays need to STUDY the golden era of hip hop when we had ORIGINALITY and CREATIVITY at it peak. TO BITE was WACK and nobody tried to put music out the would "sell", they did it for the LOVE and for the ART. We had KRS One, Big Daddy Kane, Run DMC, RAKIM, SLICK RICK, Public Enemy, Kool G, RAP, Fat Boys, and countless others that were so DIVERSE, BUT very RELEVANT to the hip hop scene at the time. Cats have to KNOW and SEE that in order to see how OFF TRACK they are now days chasing the All Mighty Dollar. PEACE

I agree with deepru..originality is gone and not only that but gimmicks are taking over leaving the tru lyricist scratching they head like ..wtf..so they to begin to conform to what the masses have accepted..its as plain as this...as long as you are buying that coon ass rap there will always be a market for it....and when we as fans wake up and say enough is enough and stop buying this trash then the tide will turn..until then we to are stuck scratching our heads...Peace

We have in rap our Al sharpton's too, LOL, I gotta talk about it as of late I've been out and about mingling with different cultures in clubs and I made friend with a lot of DJ's, and talking music at 3am at Denny's with a bunch of DJ's is knowledge, Case in point Mos Def ..... with out a doubt in most people eyes he could be on Jay-Z level, if he back off the race thing a bit, There are certain artist that get pigeon-holed as being radicals or only please one side of the Market, Now my views on Mos Def are that I'm a fan and I think he is balanced. Is it that some artist only rap for the struggle. I think of hip hop as art, I think that Artist should display works that can touch all cultures and races cause ghetto and struggle is relatable....Real talk I got a song ideal, "They call me nigger", from the point of view of the white kid growing up in the black neighborhood.

I agree 100%. Im black myself but why does everything have to be black an white. Thats all thats ever talked about. Al Sharpton doesnt talk about the black men killing other black men for there shoes, but the moment a white man says nigger thats the worse crime since the holocaust. I here many people out here( Streets of the South Bronx) say if a White man calls me nigger its a wrap. So is it only ok for a black man to call you a nigger but wrong for a white man to call u that? We can despise a word but limit the people who can say it. I personally dont want anyone black or white calling me the word. I make sure to let people know who refer to me that way. As black people we ahve to let everyone know we are different then the men you see in the movies. There isnt anything different about black an whites other than the skin color. Talib Kweli once said Theres only one race the human race black an white are ethnitcities. I would Love to here that song though dexx.

I do feel that if we as black people use the N-word as a noun or term of endearment thats cool..but I put it like this is you are going to get mad when a white dude calls you nigger than you shouldnt call your self nigga...see I use the N-word and I have no problem with the word..if you allow a word to control your emotions then you are weak to some point..if a white dude calls me nigger in a hateful way its a joke to me..I would laugh at dude like come on homey is that all you got? I just got called nigga 20 times b4 I even left the hood....now if a white person called you nigger and your reaction was ..whate ever and you paid it no mind..who would be more upset? you or the white dude who tried his best to get under your skin....

Thats exactly why ignoring racism instead of marching an shit is the best way to get rid of it. We got our rights... Under the law we now are equal!

Dee I wasn't talking about being called the N-word, I said that I would like to make a song about the white kids that grow up in the hood, we call them cracker, white just limp them in with us and call them nigga too, We all are niggers anyway, America is bar none a lazy country, Racism, stress, pain none of these things are real, because our hearts and minds fuel these to be mountains in our life and we all will have to encounter that cold mountain climb it to move forward in our life. I want to show that the being called a nigger can hurt are provoke anger out of anybody no matter the race, If you can foul the taste to world then one day the word won't be in anyones mouth.
